I Didn't Get Dear John the movie?

Okay, well I saw the movie, and I really don't understand it..So, after John sells his dad's coin collection, and gave the money to help cure Tim....then Tim came home, but savanahh said, she needed the money so "Tim can say good-bye", so tim comes home, okay right? But at the end of the movie, when after the hosptial visit to tim, john and savannah have dinner, then he leaves and john says "goodbye savanahh", and when john pulls his car from out of the drive, savanah breaks down crying, and John, breaks down crying in the car, WHY WERE THEY CRYING?!?!?!?!, also, at the end when they were at that restaurant and john had the goatee, and they hugged after he parked his bike, did they get married?? did tim die?? did they fall back in love? PLEASE ANSWER! im soo confused!

They were crying because they didn't want to break up. At the end, John sells his dad's coin collection to pay for the surgery for Tim. Tim lives 2 months and dies. Then at the end, it's implied that John and Savannah get back together, because it shows them hugging after Tim died.
I didn't like the ending. The book was different..but I still liked the movie.
