Iron Dutch Oven

I have a cast iron dutch oven,the lid has ribs on the inside. I was wondering if there is a purpose for these?

The ribs are in a circular pattern. They start at the center and work outward, about four rows.

For long slow cooking the ribs will allow condensate to drip back onto the food rather than run down the side of the dutch oven.

which pan rest is better? enameled or cast iron. why?

am going to buy a gas hob. need to know.

"Better" is a relative term here.

Cast iron is very popular because it is inexpensive. BUT the secret is that it should not be washed with soap and water or put in the dishwasher. Clean it by pouring table salt and scrubbing away excess debris with a paper towel. Also, cast iron needs to be "seasoned" but that is simple to do.

Enameled is a bit more "user friendly." (And I am assuming that you are thinking of the heavy enameled pans" not the super light ones because those are fairly useless.) Most people love them because they are easy to clean.

How to remove burn from non stick pan?

I received a set of non-stick cookware for Christmas. I accidently burned some food in the dutch oven pan. I have tried scrubbing it with a plastic scouring pad and I cannot remove the burn from the non stick. How can I fix it? Thanks in advance!
Thank you everyone! I sprinkled baking soda on it and scrubbed gently and it came right off! I am so relieved!

Try filling your pan with enough baking soda to cover the bottom of your pan add enough water to cover the baking soda plus about 1-2 inches. Put back onto the stove & bring to a boil, remove from stove & let sit overnight, & wash as usual. This has always worked for me, hope it helps you.
