Stainless Steel Best Cookware for a Healthy Kitchen

For the Best Cookware, Try Stainless Steel

If you want a good set of pots and pans that will last a long time, try stainless steel cookware. I’ve had the same set of Revere Copper Clad bottom cookware that I received as a wedding gift in 1970 and they look almost as good as the day I got them. (That’s some of them in the picture in the header!)  They’ve seen a lot of years of use and abuse, been through the dishwasher countless time, had food burnt in them (I never said I was a perfect cook), and cleaned right up. Now that’s staying power!

Stainless-steel is considered the best high-end cookware. It may cost a little more than some pots and pans, but it will give you years and years of service, and cooking with the heavier stainless steel pans works much better than cheaper, lighter materials.

The material for the best cookware is heavy aluminum core. It goes up the sides of the pan and is sandwiched between a stainless steel cooking surface and an outer layer of magnetic stainless steel. The biggest advantage is, that when you cook on gas ranges and the flames are always licking the sides of the cookware, this cookware remains unscathed.

Even without a Teflon coating, or other such material, stainless steel cookware cleans up easily. If you really flub it and burn something to a crisp in your pan, fill it with water and put a little backing soda in it and let it boil for a while. It will loosen the charred mess and allow you to clean it up pretty easily.

Pans with a copper clad bottom can be cleaned with a commercial cleaner, or buy cheap ketchup and smear over the copper. Let that sit for a while then wipe it off, and the copper will brighten right up.

For a really good, safe, set of cookware, stainless steel fits in really well for a healthy kitchen.
