Pre Seasoned Skillet
how do I care for cast iron skillets,?
Should they be washed in soap and water? How should I treat an older pre owned skillet? How do you keep them seasoned AND clean?
I never put my cast iron ware in soap and water. To clean I heat my oven to about 250degrees, spray with Pam or vegetable oil, then coat with salt. Put them in the oven for about 1 hour ( put aluminum foil under iron ware, to catch drips). Take out of oven and then take bbq brush or other abrasive brush and scrub and repeat oven procedure. Last I wipe down with paper towel with a little coating of vegetable oil or Pam and store.
